SearchLight Counselling and Therapy is a company limited by guarantee (registered in England under company number 3909277 and a registered charity number 1079270)
Our charity is based in Surrey and offers face to face counselling in our physical locations in addition to offering online counselling to all.
SearchLight's charitable objectives are as follows:
- To relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantages.
- To promote research into all of the above objectives and make the results available to the public.
- To support and encourage people to improve the emotional, sexual and general wellbeing of individuals, couples, young people, families, and children.
- To seek to enhance the good health, both mental and physical, of adults, children and young people.
- To provide counselling, support, psycho-education and help to adults and children by finding a way together.
Relationship breakdown is experienced by many people. It has damaging consequences both for the affected adults and their children. SearchLight offers support to people in this challenging and difficult situation.
Counselling does not only provide support to those directly affected, it also helps in:
- Reducing working time lost by stress and mental health issues
- Addressing domestic abuse
- Helping to prevent or stop drug and alcohol abuse
- Preventing or stopping child abuse
- Improving the attendance and performance of children at school
- Preventing disruptive and anti-social behaviour
This, in turn, reduces pressure on agencies such as the Police, NHS and Social Services, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
